JTT - Junior Team Tennis

JTT is a co-ed team league.  There are two divisions: Under 14 and under 18.  The team plays one singles match for boys, one singles match for girls and a mixed doubles match.  Players may be substituted by the coach.  This is good to get the players used to match play in singles and doubles.  The format can get the player more time on the court than the single elimination format of the USTA tournaments - unless you're winning!

Grand Prix

The Eastern Section Western Region is sponsoring the Western Junior Championship Circuit. The circuit consists of one tournament per month from January through November. The USTA points earned for each Western Junior Championship Circuit tournament played are used for the Grand Prix ranking. The top three Juniors in each age group are invited to the Invitational Western Regional Circuit CHMPS in December. Prizes will be awarded based on the outcome of the invitational tournament. Must be a USTA member to play in the Grand Prix.

Participation in these Western tournaments has no extra influence upon Eastern Section or Western Regional rankings. The Western Junior Championship Circuit is a stand-alone circuit of Western Region.

USTA - United States Tennis Association

Membership in the USTA give the player access to the USTA sanctioned tournaments.  There are several different levels.  A Level one tournamanet usually has a larger draw and higher level of competition than a Level 2 tournament.  An Open Tournament (L2O) can have players from other areas, but a R or closed tournament is restricted to players in the local area (L2R). These tournaments are good for accomplished players that have a goal to make High School Sectionals or State Tournaments. The format is usually single elimination.

If you are unfamiliar with playing sanctioned tournaments, be sure to read up on some basic information before getting started. It is important that all sectional junior tournament players view the most recent updates both within Eastern and at the national level in a timely manner. The purpose of the following links is to ensure that everyone has the most recent revisions from the Eastern Ranking Seeding and Endorsement Committee, based on changes made at National.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Julie Bliss, Director of Junior Competition.

All of the USTA rules of play are available in the USTA Friend At Court.
